Title: Rain
Author: sharpes_hussy
Rating: G
Prompt: rain
Summary: it was rain, but something about it reminded Sheppard of home

Sheppard left his quarters, after dropping his P-90 on the chair near his computer and pulling off his tac, and headed to the east pier where he sat down, his legs resting on the pier,  but booted feet over the edge.
The quiet rain washed down gently over him. It felt good. It felt like home. There was something refreshing, calming, and it made him think of the last time he had been at home.
He had been on leave between assignments and although things had not turned out
well in terms of 'family dynamics', it was retreating to the mountain lodge that he found fulfilling.
They had protested telling him that it was not right; he
owed them the time, but he had packed it in figuring his time was short.
Now this rain fulfilled him the same way it had for those two days. He had spent them taking walks through the evergreens and spending a bit of time on the porch, just being.

Oh thanks Kristen. I have always loved it and coming from
the Pacific NW missed it terribly when I lived in arid areas.
It seems so fitting for Sheppard too.....

You've hit a nice melancholy note here, and I particularly like the idea that the rain fulfills him.

Thank you so much.
Gentle rain has long been something I find extremely
fulfilling.....and never mind surrounded by evergreens
I love the sound they make as a breeze moves through them, almost
a sigh.......

Oh thanks. My first attempt at a prompt.
My muse went bonkers yesterday, filled two prompts, yet today has beat a retreat.
I NEED to spend some quality time on my Sheppard Afghan/Atlantis story...........

This is lovely. It's so nice to think of John taking a little bit of time to just be--I think he doesn't often do that.

Thank you.
I too think Sheppard would be in need of respite.
Mountains, evergreens and gentle rain fill that image for me.

Yay, rain always makes me feel at home, too, no matter where I am. Nice little piece of John's character!

Absolutely
I can relate only too well what Sheppard is feeling
I still remember what it was like when I lived in arid climate
I missed the gentle rains of the Pacific NW so much
Glad you liked it
