I am trying to write up my post, but LJ isn't letting me format the way I want to. It is a poem, and I can't get the lines to indent at all. Any suggestions? I've tried to cut and paste, using rich text, but it says my post is too large (even tho it's under 1300 words). I've tried with and without a cut, and I'veeven typed it all out into the html box. It's getting everything right--just not indentations. (And I've used spaces instead of tabs as well). Any ideas, anyone? Thanks in advance!

Re: help!
another option is to use a table to encircle the whole thing, with cellpadding. <table cellpadding=5 border=0> <tr><td> your text </td> </tr> </table> testing...

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Praesent mattis mauris vitae quam porttitor commodo.

In sapien urna, consectetur eu euismod a, fringilla eu nibh. Suspendisse et nibh eros. Vestibulum ante ipsum primis in faucibus orci luctus et ultrices posuere cubilia Curae;

Duis ut diam in ante aliquet pretium porta in lectus. Donec imperdiet tristique nunc, nec malesuada velit venenatis at. Suspendisse eget sagittis mauris. Nunc luctus ornare

dolor quis malesuada. Etiam a est non justo tincidunt fermentum. Nunc nisl sapien, egestas vitae tempus vitae, pharetra sed metus. Etiam eu dictum ligula. Quisque quis est sem,

feugiat ornare risus. Nullam id libero mattis magna pellentesque dignissim eu sed magna. Aenean rutrum posuere risus,

quis ultricies eros luctus sit amet. Maecenas rutrum pulvinar pretium.

yeah, that seems to work.

Re: help!
The table didn't work, unless I did it wrong. Should my journal have a certain setting? This is so frustrating, esp since there's NOTHING in the FAQs about this AT ALL. I know I'm not the only incompetent moron out there! DX

Re: help!
okay: the solution is to surround the table with ul tags.

Re: help!
Ok I figured it out. Sort of. I just added ul tags around every line i wanted to indent--which with poetry takes some time b/c some lines needed double or triple indentation! But it is done, and you are awesome, and I could've sworn we were friends already... Thanks for your help so much! The post will be on sga_saturday in about two minutes!

Re: help!
surrounding a single table would have been easier. :) but \o/!
